What is Jalupro | A skin-nurturing injectable formulation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and amino acids

Jalupro is an injectable formulation composed of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and amino acids. Because it can "rejuvenate the skin from within" and "help the skin itself regain firmness and elasticity," it has recently also been called a "skin-nurturing" formulation.

Jalupro comes in three formulations—Classic, HMW, and Super Hydro—each with different expected effects.

The difference in effects comes down to the difference in the molecular weight of the main ingredient, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. For a more detailed overview of Jalupro and the differences between the three formulations, please see this page.

An injectable formulation used in skin-nurturing therapy, it is said to "rejuvenate the skin from within" and "help the skin regain its inherent firmness and elasticity"...

This article explains "Jalupro HMW," one of the three formulations, in detail. If you are interested, please read on.

What is Jalupro HMW | Plumping neck wrinkles and nasolabial folds, and filling out hollow cheeks

The effects of Jalupro HMW

The main ingredients of Jalupro HMW are high-molecular-weight non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and amino acids, and its effects arise mainly in two ways.

The first is the skin-nurturing effect of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and amino acids, common to the entire Jalupro series.

The second is the effect of the molecular weight of the "high-molecular-weight" non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. This effect of high-molecular-weight non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid can also be said to be the defining feature of Jalupro HMW.

[Jalupro's skin-nurturing effect]

Jalupro's skin-nurturing effect appears as a synergy between the ECM remodeling effect of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and the amino acids.

When injected into the skin, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid spreads in multiple directions, activating the surrounding tissue in the process. The activated cells increase collagen, elastin, and fibroblasts in the dermal layer, boosting firmness and elasticity and rejuvenating the skin.

This effect isECM remodelingand is touted as a skin-nurturing effect.

And the amino acids in Jalupro are essential ingredients for cell generation and regeneration and for repairing damaged skin. Glycine in particular is an important amino acid from the standpoint of collagen production.

In other words, because it can stimulate cell growth while simultaneously supplying the amino acids essential for generation and repair, a synergistic effect for skin rejuvenation can be expected.

[Effects of high-molecular-weight non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid]

High-molecular-weight non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid refers to non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with a large molecular weight.

We explained earlier that non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid spreads in multiple directions, but the larger the molecular weight, the harder it is to pass through the spaces between skin cells. Also, because of its large molecular weight, it is less readily broken down or absorbed.

In other words, compared with low-molecular-weight forms, it is less likely to diffuse away from the injected site and stays there, and takes longer to break down.

In addition, since hyaluronic acid itself swells and gains volume when it binds with the moisture it draws in, injecting it into wrinkles and hollows makes those areas less noticeable.

Features of Jalupro HMW

HMW (High Molecular Weight) means high molecular weight, and as the name suggests, the effect obtained from high-molecular-weight non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid can be called the defining feature of Jalupro HMW.

Although some points overlap, they can be summarized as follows.

  • Due to its viscous nature and resistance to spreading, it stays where it is injected
  • At the injected site, it draws in moisture to create volume
  • Through this added volume, sagging skin can be lifted and firmed
  • Because it is resistant to breakdown, its effects are long-lasting, at 6 to 12 months

Because of these features, Jalupro HMW is said to be effective for etched-in wrinkles and hollows.

Jalupro HMW is recommended for people like these

  • Want to reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles such as neck wrinkles and nasolabial folds
  • Want to plump up hollow cheeks, hollows around the eyes, and the temple area
  • I want firmness and radiance in my cheeks
  • Lift-up

If you have concerns like the above and

  • don't want others to notice that you've "had something done," preferring a treatment with natural-looking change
  • want the downtime to be over within three days

then this treatment can be recommended for you

Timing of when the effects appear

From around a few days after the treatment, you begin to notice improvements in skin texture, such as your skin feeling smoother and softer.

The effects are felt at their peak from around a few weeks after the treatment, when wrinkles and sagging decrease and the skin's overall elasticity and firmness feel improved.

Effects can be felt even from a single treatment, but to maintain the results, regular treatments are necessary.

Duration of effect

Jalupro HMW is said to last about 6 to 12 months.

The duration of the effect depends on the skin's response, the amount injected, and the patient's lifestyle and daily skincare, so it varies from person to person.

With regular repeated treatments, a longer-lasting improvement in skin quality can be expected.

Frequently compared treatments | Hyaluronic acid and Botox

Jalupro HMW is considered effective for deeper wrinkles and hollows, and hyaluronic acid and Botox are likewise treatments often considered for improving wrinkles and hollows.

Here we give a brief explanation of hyaluronic acid and Botox.

Hyaluronic acid

The hyaluronic acid referred to here is the cross-linked hyaluronic acid conventionally used in the field of aesthetic medicine. Also called a "filler," it is used as a filling agent for existing facial wrinkles and sagging, uneven skin surface, volume enhancement, and contouring.

Whereas Jalupro has a form with fluidity similar to the natural hyaluronic acid present in the body, cross-linked hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid filler) uses a cross-linking agent to bind hyaluronic acid molecules together, resulting in a more viscous, gel-like form. Once injected, it stays concentrated locally and does not move easily. Because it takes time to break down, its effects are long-lasting, and a single treatment is said to last from several months to over a year. It is the most mainstream treatment for improving wrinkles and hollows.

Differences from Jalupro HMW

Features of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid filler)

  • Cross-linked hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid filler) physically creates volume and fills in gaps, whereas Jalupro HMW naturally adds volume by promoting your own collagen production
  • Because the hyaluronic acid does not diffuse, there is no skin-nurturing effect
  • Fast-acting, with long-lasting effects
  • If accidentally injected into a blood vessel, there is a risk of thromboembolism within the vessel

Botox

Botox is a treatment in which a botulinum toxin preparation is injected to temporarily weaken muscle movement. It is used for dynamic wrinkles that appear with facial expressions, such as on the forehead and at the outer corners of the eyes.

Jalupro HMW is used for wrinkles that already exist, regardless of facial expression.

In other words, when choosing between Jalupro HMW and Botox, it is best to base the decision on whether the wrinkles that concern you are already etched in or appear with facial expressions.

Downtime and risks of Jalupro HMW

Downtime

Downtime symptoms

  • Pain or tenderness at the injection site
  • Redness, swelling, and itching at the injection site
  • Bruising

Bruising refers to what is commonly called a "bruise." The medical mechanism is that blood vessels within the skin rupture, blood leaks out, and then clots within the skin. Whether or not bruising occurs depends on the physician's skill and the physical characteristics of the person receiving the treatment, so it is expected to occur in a few percent of cases.

In most cases, downtime symptoms disappear within a day or two (basically within 24 hours).

If bruising occurs, it gradually fades over one to two weeks.

"Will it interfere with my work or daily life after the treatment?"
"About how many days will I need to keep it hidden..."

Some people may be concerned about such things.

To put the conclusion first, the bumps that form right after the injection often settle within about 3 hours after the treatment, and are said to disappear within 48 hours at the most.

Depending on the area, bruising may occur and needle marks may be noticeable, but in most cases they can be adequately covered with concealer or the like. Makeup cannot be applied on the day of the treatment, so if it really bothers you, you may need to cover it with a mask or hat; from the next day, makeup is possible.

Areas prone to bruising are around the eyes and the temples, while the area where needle marks tend to be most visible is the cheeks. However, since the treatment is originally performed with an extremely fine needle, even if bruising occurs it does not spread darkly over a wide area. In most cases it can be concealed with makeup, but those who are concerned may find it reassuring to schedule so as not to have appointments the day after the treatment.

Risks of Jalupro

Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acids such as Jalupro are generally considered safe.

The reasons are:

  • No cross-linking agents are used... avoiding allergic reactions, immune reactions, and inflammation caused by cross-linking agents
  • Properties similar to the hyaluronic acid naturally present in the body... low risk of thromboembolism

In addition, the three Jalupro formulations are certified as Class 3 medical devices under the CE mark, which also indicates their high safety.
(The CE mark is an indicator that evaluates the safety of medical devices in the EU, and Class 3 indicates the highest level.)

Disadvantages of Jalupro HMW

Jalupro has no major disadvantages worth noting. The minor disadvantages are as follows.

  • The effects are not permanent, so repeated treatments are needed to maintain results.
  • It is not fast-acting before the effect can be felt (to put it another way, the result comes on slowly and looks natural).
  • Results vary from person to person
  • Temporary redness and swelling may occur after injection. These usually resolve within a few days but may affect appearance right after the treatment.

Other treatments | Hyaluronic acid, Botox, PRP therapy

Hyaluronic acid

  • Cross-linked hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid filler) physically creates volume and fills gaps
  • Because the hyaluronic acid does not diffuse, there is no skin-nurturing effect
  • Fast-acting, with long-lasting effects
  • If accidentally injected into a blood vessel, there is a risk of thromboembolism within the vessel

Botox

  • A treatment that injects a botulinum toxin preparation to temporarily weaken muscle movement
  • Used for dynamic wrinkles that appear with facial expressions, such as on the forehead and at the outer corners of the eyes (not effective for wrinkles that already exist regardless of facial expression)

PRP therapy

  • A treatment in which concentrated platelets (= plasma) extracted from your own blood are injected into the skin.
  • This plasma is rich in growth factors, which promote the skin's self-repair and regeneration
  • Because it is made from your own blood, the risk of allergic reactions or rejection is low
  • Beyond improving wrinkles and hollows, it can also be expected to improve the overall texture of the skin and to treat scars
