What Is Juvelook?

Juvelook is a skin booster that combines non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid withPoly-DL-lactic acid (PDLLA)This is an injectable formulation known as a skin booster, made by combining
After injection, it is slowly absorbed by the body over one to two years, during which it stimulates fibroblasts to naturally increase collagen and elastin, so a lasting effect can be expected.
Because it is made from lactic acid, a substance that also occurs naturally in the human body, it is unlikely to trigger allergies and offers a high level of safety.
In English, Juvelook is spelled "JUVELOOK."
It is a coined word combining JUVE (youth, vitality, energy) and LOOK (appearance, expression).
It is also approved by the body equivalent to Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, namely theU.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)and theApproved by the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA)It is a formulation with a high level of safety.
A Korea-born skin booster certified by Korea's KFDAskin booster

Juvelook won an award in Korea's consumer skin booster category for two consecutive years (2022, 2023).
At the Korea Consumer Award, 2023,a total of 41 brands were selected, including Starbucks, Terra, and Juvelook.
Juvelook is attracting attention as the next-generation skin booster following Rejuran. In Korea, it has already beenMore than 400,000 peoplehave received it. (As of December 2023)
Types of Juvelook
It is not widely known, but there are actually two types of Juvelook, as follows.
- Juvelook
- Juvelook Volume = Lenisna
Since Juvelook (No. 1) is the more familiar one, you can assume that "Juvelook" refers to No. 1.
Juvelook Volume (No. 2) is often called "Lenisna" in Japan, whereas in Korea it is more commonly called "Juvelook Volume."
The Difference Between Juvelook and Juvelook Volume (Lenisna)

- What is the difference between the two?
Dr. IshiiConcentration and particle size. These change the way volume is produced. As its name suggests, Juvelook Volume (Lenisna) excels at adding volume, making it well suited to deep folds such as the nasolabial folds.
Click here for more information on Juvelook Volume (Lenisna).
The Four Features of Juvelook
1. Long-lasting effect
Poly-DL-lactic acid (PDLLA) continuously stimulates the fibroblasts within the skin, which in turn promotes collagen production. After injection, it is slowly broken down into water and carbon dioxide within the skin over one to two years. For this reason, unlike conventional hyaluronic acid formulations, Juvelook is a formulation that nurtures the skin over an extended period.
The official Juvelook YouTube video below explains how Juvelook works. (*The video is in English.)
2. Fewer side effects
Juvelook uses a drug called poly-DL-lactic acid (PDLLA). Poly-lactic acid formulations in the same category as Juvelook include Sculptra and Maccume.
Sculptra had angular, pointed particles that strongly irritated surrounding cells and carried a risk of causing subcutaneous lumps.
Maccume is a delivery agent for Potenza. It greatly reduced the risk of the subcutaneous lumps that tended to occur with Sculptra. However, because it is not approved by the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA), it cannot be injected directly into the skin.
Unlike Sculptra and Maccume, Juvelook is made so that its particles are round in shape. As a result, there is virtually no risk of forming subcutaneous lumps. It has also been approved by the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) and the U.S. FDA.
3. Customized treatment possible with localized injection
Juvelook can be injected not only across the whole area but also into localized spots. This makes it possible to address not only the entire face but also localized concerns. For example, it can address the following localized areas.
- Acne scars and scar indentations
- Fine lines and sagging under the eyes
- Pores on the nose
4. Extensive medical data
Juvelook is widely used in Korea, and many research papers on its efficacy and safety have been published.
As one example, the following paper discusses the efficacy of PDLA (approximately equivalent to Juvelook) for acne scars.
Intradermal injection of PDLA may be used as an effective treatment with fewer side effects in patients with acne scars of Fitzpatrick skin types III-IV.
Hyeong JH et al (2022). Intradermal Injection of Poly-D, L-Lactic Acid Using
Microneedle Fractional Radiofrequency for Acne Scars: An Open-Label Prospective Trial, DERMATOLOGIC SURGERY December 2022, Volume 48-12
Recommended for
- Those who have not achieved satisfactory results with laser treatment
- Those concerned about uneven acne scars
- Those concerned about fine lines under the eyes
- Those who want to improve skin firmness and elasticity
- Those who want to refine the appearance of open pores
- Those who want to improve their skin quality
- Those concerned about wrinkles on the neck
Effect
Through the dual action of poly-DL-lactic acid (PDLLA) and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, it improves skin quality from within, helping guide the skin toward a firm, radiant condition.
- Improvement of skin quality
- Enhanced firmness and radiance
- Improvement of fine lines
- Pore reduction
- Scar improvement
- Improvement of acne scars (pigmentation and craters)
PDLLA produces collagen continuously over one to two years, so long-term effects can also be expected.
When PDLLA is injected into the dermis deep within the skin, it is gradually broken down and absorbed into water and CO2 over about one to two years. During this time, it stimulates the fibroblasts in the dermis and activates the production of collagen and elastin.
Similarly, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid also activates collagen and elastin production within the dermis by stimulating fibroblasts.

Treatmentarea
There are two main treatment approaches.
1. Full face
With full-face injection, the product is injected broadly across the entire face, the whole forehead, the whole cheeks, and so on. Effects such as pore treatment and improved skin quality can be expected.
2. Localized
Injections are placed precisely into the frown lines, fine lines around the eyes, acne scars, and similar areas. This is the recommended approach when there are specific areas of concern.
Which layer is it injected into?

Injectable formulations vary in both their ingredients and intended purposes.
Therefore, it is extremely important to administer each formulation at the appropriate “depth” and “volume” to ensure optimal results.
With Juvelook, the main injection layer is "from the middle to the deep layers of the dermis."
The skin is structured in layers, starting from the surface: the "epidermis," the "dermis" (comprising the superficial, middle, and deep layers), the "subcutaneous fat layer," and the "muscle layer," each of which plays a distinct role. The middle to deep layers of the dermis provide structural support for the skin and play a key role in its firmness and elasticity.
The middle to deep layers of the dermis are where Juvelook's ingredients and intended effects are most effective, and this is the medical rationale behind our clinic's decision to inject this formulation into this specific area.
Treatment Method
There are three main ways to inject Juvelook.
- Manual injection by a physician
- Water Light Injection (mechanical)
- Potenza
1. Manual injection by a physician
The physician checks the condition of the skin and injects at the appropriate depth and dosage for each area. The injection is performed using a syringe.
2. Water Light Injection (mechanical injection)
The term "Water Light Injection" is sometimes used as the name of a drug or formulation, but more often it is used as the name of a "machine."
Once the drug is loaded into the Water Light Injection machine and the injection depth and dosage per injection are set on the machine, it can keep injecting at a fixed depth and dosage. With Water Light Injection, a nurse performs the procedure.
3. Potenza
Potenza is a type of treatment device known as microneedle RF. It is sometimes called an advanced version of the Dermapen.
After ultra-fine needles are inserted, RF waves (radio waves) are emitted from the tips of the needles. This creates channels in the skin, into which the formulation (Juvelook) is delivered through what is known as a drug delivery system.
Benefits/Drawbacks
Benefits
One advantage of Juvelook is that, in addition to a variety of skin-improving effects such as firmness, radiance, and crater improvement, the action of PDLLA can provide long-term skin-quality improvement over one to two years.
Drawbacks
Juvelook has no major disadvantages, but the article below explains the finer disadvantages in detail.
Who cannot receive this treatment
Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding
Those with abnormal immune function or a history of it, and those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy
Those prone to keloid formation, hypertrophic scarring, or pigmentation disorders
Those with a bleeding tendency, or those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin or anticoagulants such as warfarin
- Those who have excessive sunburn, eczema, dermatitis, severely inflamed acne, or scabs at the Juvelook injection site
Risks and Side Effects
At the needle puncture site:
Redness, swelling, pain, edema
Bruising
Temporary raised bumps
Downtime
Redness and raised bumps may occur at the injection site, but in most cases they return to normal in about 24 hours.
Due to the nature of the treatment, subcutaneous bleeding may occur at the needle puncture site, though not always. If bruising occurs, it gradually fades over 10 to 14 days.

This information is provided because we often receive inquiries about it.
Our "cc notation" for Juvelook is the cc notation for Juvelook created using the official dissolution method of the Juvelook formulation.
What this means is that the drug Juvelook is not used as-is, but is usually dissolved in saline in the proportions prescribed by Juvelook, then mixed thoroughly, and then the dissolved Juvelook is used.

[Reference] How to Choose the Dosage (cc)

- For easier comparison with other clinics' listings, we also offer a "3cc" option.
- That said, for the whole face (full face), 3cc does not provide sufficient "density," so if you are seeking the maximum effect, we suggest using the following as a guide when choosing.
- [Pattern 1] Lighter treatment is fine for the forehead and the area below the nose ⇒ 3cc
- [Pattern 2] The area below the nose can be a little lighter, but I want thorough treatment above the nose ⇒ 4cc
- [Pattern 3] I want thorough treatment across the whole face, including below the nose ⇒ 6cc
- If you are unsure, the physician will confirm your wishes on the day and suggest the optimal volume (please rest assured that we never upsell unnecessarily).
For those worried that "cheap prices mean it's diluted or fake"
In conclusion, at Smart Skin Clinic we providegenuine Juvelook, at the proper concentration and by the proper method of administration. We provide it as follows.
However, we understand that some people may feel uneasy, thinking, "If it's too cheap, that's actually scary...," "Could it be watered down...?," or "Could they be using a counterfeit...?"
To ease these concerns, we will explain our clinic's approach and the characteristics of the drug Juvelook.
Juvelook is a "powder" product
Unlike drugs such as Profhilo and Sunekos, Juvelook comes in a box as a "powder" rather than a liquid. (See the image below.)

Because it is a powder, the following points are essential.
- It must be mixed with saline solution to dissolve it (there is a proper reconstitution method specified by the Juvelook manufacturer).
- After dissolving, it must be "stirred" (mixed thoroughly). If it is not mixed thoroughly, the effect may be uneven, or the ingredients may become unevenly distributed, creating a risk of lumps.
"Stirring" is the key point
At our clinic, we use a genuine Juvelook (JUVELOOK) mixer to stir the formulation thoroughly, as shown below.
The reason for our prices is "waste reduction and greater efficiency."
The reason our clinic can keep its fees low isbecause we dilute the contents.Nor is it"because we use counterfeit products."Neither is the case.
It is because, guided by our management and operating concept of "making cosmetic medicine more accessible and smarter," we thoroughly eliminate waste and maximize operational efficiency.
We apply thorough quality control to every process involved in the formulation.

FAQ
- When will I see results?
Dr. IshiiMany people feel the effect after two to three weeks.
You can see an effect even with a single session, but it is easier to notice a significant change after receiving a set of three sessions.
We also recommend the following as an effective approach.
- A set of three sessions at one-month intervals, followed by maintenance every six months to one year.
*With Juvelook, collagen is produced continuously, so the effect lasts for a long time.- Is it safe?
Dr. IshiiJuvelook is approved by the U.S. FDA and Korea's KFDA and can be considered highly safe.
- How is it different from hyaluronic acid treatment?
Dr. IshiiHyaluronic acid treatment injects cross-linked hyaluronic acid, a firmer form of hyaluronic acid, which physically adds volume to improve wrinkles and similar concerns. Juvelook, on the other hand, achieves a natural increase in volume by boosting the collagen your own body produces.
