BAKU
In daily life,
nurture your skin.
Born from the insights of aesthetic dermatology,
a serum that nurtures the skin.
Its name comes
from a single ingredient.
The ingredient that &DR. developer Aira Fujimaki arrived at while studying the aesthetic dermatology literature,
bakuchiol (BAKUCHIOL).
Its name became, quite simply, the name of the product.
No embellishment, no pretense. We named it after the ingredient at its heart.
Do you have concerns
like these?
- I'm starting to notice sagging
- I feel my skin losing its firmness
- I'm concerned about dullness
- I'm interested in retinol, but worried about irritation
- I want to further enhance the results of skin-nurturing treatments with my daily care
- I'm unsure what to use on delicate skin after treatment
Offense and defense,
in a single serum.
I want firmness and radiance. But I want to avoid irritation.
BAKU is a skin-nurturing serum for daily life that answers both of these needs.
Next-generation retinol※Daily firmness care with bakuchiol, known as "next-generation retinol." Niacinamide conditions the skin, and a vitamin C derivative supports texture and radiance.
It can be used morning and night, and is gentle enough for delicate skin after treatment. A gentle yet dependable serum.
*Bakuchiol is a plant-derived skin-conditioning ingredient.
Bakuchiol —
"next-generation retinol"
Why it is called
Retinol (vitamin A) is an anti-aging※It is widely known as a leading ingredient in this field. As an ingredient that gives skin firmness and radiance, it has been used extensively in aesthetic medicine.
On the other hand, however, comments like these are not uncommon.
I couldn't keep using it because of peeling and redness
I heard it can't be used in the morning, which made it hard to build into a habit
I have sensitive skin, so I'm too afraid to try it
Because it is so high-performing, it is strongly irritating and requires you to choose your skin type and timing carefully. That was the practical challenge with retinol.
*Aging care: care appropriate to one's age.
Bakuchiol is a naturally derived skin-conditioning ingredient extracted from the seeds of the leguminous plant babchi (Psoralea corylifolia).
Recent research has drawn attention to how it offers skin-conditioning action similar to retinol while being gentler on the skin and stable in light.
It is called "next-generation retinol" because it is expected to serve as a skin-conditioning ingredient that gives skin firmness and radiance while making up for retinol's shortcomings.
The difference between retinol and bakuchiol
| retinol | BakuchiolFormulated in BAKU | |
|---|---|---|
| origin | Vitamin A | Derived from a leguminous plant |
| Skin-conditioning action | Gives firmness and radiance | Gives firmness and radiance |
| Irritation | Risk of peeling and redness at high concentrations | Gentle※ |
| Morning use | Not recommended, due to stability concerns in light | Can be used morning and night |
| After treatment | Not recommended, as it is strongly irritating | Can be used from day one※ |
| Break-in period | Often required | Basically unnecessary |
| Sensitive skin | Caution required | Relatively easy to use※ |
*Not everyone will be free from irritation.
Retinol is certainly an excellent ingredient. But there are risks to using it without a prescription. Unless it is something anyone can use safely every day, it cannot work as care outside the consultation room. While reading the research, I arrived at bakuchiol.
Not bakuchiol alone.
A meticulously crafted formulation design.
Gentleness comes not from adding, but from subtracting.
BAKU is committed to a formulation design that minimizes the burden on the skin.
For those receiving
skin-nurturing treatments
BAKU can also be used by those receiving our skin-nurturing treatments such as Profhilo, Jalupro, and XERF.
In aesthetic medicine, strongly irritating ingredients such as retinol are not recommended for the delicate skin immediately after a treatment. Bakuchiol, formulated in BAKU, has a gentle feel※and so can be used from the very day of your treatment.
Please use it alongside your treatments as part of your daily skin-nurturing care.
*Not everyone will be free from irritation.
How to Use
Use it as the final step in your skincare routine.
It can be used together with your existing skincare products.
Even if you are currently using retinol, BAKU can be used alongside it.
Bakuchiol is expected to have anti-inflammatory action, gently supporting the skin against the irritation that can come with retinol use※.
*Results are not guaranteed for everyone.
A comfort that
makes you want to use it every day.
Even outside the consultation room,
there must be something we can do.
Examining patients' skin day after day, I came to feel keenly the importance of the "daily care" that aesthetic medicine alone cannot cover.
Retinol, a mainstay in aesthetic medicine, is certainly an excellent ingredient. But high-concentration versions carry risks unless prescribed after actually examining the patient.
"Something anyone can use every day, on their own, with peace of mind."
With that thought, I kept reading the research and found bakuchiol, a plant-derived skin-conditioning ingredient.
I myself have sensitive skin and have struggled with irritation. That is exactly why I made no compromises in achieving both gentleness and real results.
I would be delighted if BAKU could become a part of your daily care.
