What Is Vitaran (VITARAN)?

Vitaran is a skin-regenerating skin booster formulation.
polynucleotide formulationAs one of these, it works by enhancing the skin's own natural regenerative power toachieve fundamental improvement in skin qualityis what we aim for.
Its main ingredient is the "polynucleotide (PN)" found in the Rejuran family, and it also contains "pure vitamins." The name is thought to come from combining "purevita-min" + "Reju-ran,"" = "Vitaranwhich is likely how the name was derived.

Also, as we will explain in more detail below, it can be consideredthe successor to "Lizne,"which is known as a generic version of Rejuran.

Features of Vitaran

  • Highly concentrated polynucleotides
  • Reduced pain
  • Reduced redness
  • Optimized pH
  • Suitable for use over a wide area
  • Vitamin component

Vitaranuses the same highly concentrated polynucleotides as Lizne as its main ingredient, with the further addition of "pure vitamins."In addition to the regenerative capacity of polynucleotides, the antioxidant action of vitamins creates a synergistic effect that supports clearer, more radiant improvement in skin quality.

Furthermore, in the medical device manufacturing license issued by the Korean regulatory authority (MFDS, formerly KFDA), "HP VITARAN" and "LIZNE" are listed side by side under the same license number.

As a matter of public record, thisdemonstrates that Lizne and Vitaran are made in the same factory to the same quality standards..

What Are Highly Concentrated Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides, the main ingredient of Vitaran, are large molecules (biopolymers) produced within living organisms, formed by joining together multiple molecules called "nucleotides" that make up DNA.

A higher concentration means that itcontains an abundance of the materials needed for skin regeneration, which means you can expect reliable results.

Specific effects you can expect from Vitaran: improvement in skin firmness, radiance, and skin quality

Injecting Vitaran can be expected to deliver three main effects:

  • Improved skin firmness and elasticity, and reduction of fine lines
  • Fundamental improvement of skin quality (texture, moisture level, dry and rough skin)
  • Support for the repair of acne scars and other scars

Improved skin firmness and elasticity, and reduction of fine lines

When polynucleotides reach the dermal layer, theyactivate the "fibroblasts" that support skin firmness..

This strongly promotes the production of collagen and elastin, improving skin firmness and elasticity and making fine lines less noticeable. It is especially recommended for those concerned about fine lines around the eyes and mouth, horizontal forehead lines, and neck wrinkles.

Fundamental improvement of skin quality (texture, moisture level, dry and rough skin)

Beyond their ability to attract many times their own weight in moisture, polynucleotides alsohelp normalize the balance of oil and moisture in the skin, andare available.
Also, repair the skin's lamellar structure (barrier function),thereby building skin that is more resilient to external stimuli.

As a result, dry and inner-dry skin improves, texture becomes refined so that pores are less noticeable, and redness and sensitivity are calmed, leading to a "fundamental improvement" in skin quality.

Support for the repair of acne scars and other scars

Thepowerful anti-inflammatory action of polynucleotidesalso works on inflamed acne.
Furthermore,Angiogenic actionhelps deliver nutrients throughout the area, so thattissue repair of scars proceeds smoothly..
By enhancing the skin's self-repair function, cell turnover is normalized and marks gradually become less noticeable.

How polynucleotides act on the skin

  • Activation of fibroblasts: stimulates the cells that produce collagen and elastin in the skin
  • Angiogenesis: forms new blood vessels and ensures a smooth supply of oxygen and nutrients, helping to repair wounds and normalize cell turnover
  • Anti-inflammatory action: reduces inflammation and calms skin troubles

When polynucleotides are injected into the dermal layer, they repair the skin from within and lead to improved skin quality. Rather than being like hyaluronic acid, this is a skin-regenerating treatment that "nurtures from within" rather than "adding from the outside.".

Additionally, polynucleotides extracted from salmon and trout milt have a structure similar to human DNA, giving them the advantage of being less likely to cause allergic reactions.

The following study confirms that injecting polynucleotide formulations significantly improves skin texture, firmness, tone, and radiance in Asian skin, and that it is a treatment with a high safety profile.

Number of Vitaran treatments, recommended interval, and duration

  • Treatment interval: a course of typically 3–4 sessions performed every 2–4 weeks is recommended
  • Duration: approximately 3 to 6 months

The number of treatments is the same as for Rejuran and Lizne.
Compared with Rejuran, Lizne and Vitaran offer improved duration..

Time until results are felt

  • 1st session: 1 to 2 weeks after injection, the skin feels more supple, looks more radiant, makeup applies more smoothly, and moisture levels increase.
  • 2nd–3rd sessions: improvements in texture and reductions in fine lines begin to become visible.
  • 4th session onward: improved firmness and elasticity, and changes in skin quality.

Vitaran is not a treatment that "plumps up immediately after being injected" like hyaluronic acid, but rather one that gradually nurtures the skin.
It takes time for cells to become activated and for collagen to increase.
With each successive session, the skin's density increases and the effects last longer..

Vitaran's discomfort can be eased with anesthesia

To get straight to the point,While Vitaran's discomfort is "milder than Rejuran's,"it is not "completely painless."
For example, you may feel the following sensations:

  • Pain from the needle insertion: a pricking sensation
  • Pressure as the formulation enters: a feeling of being pushed
  • Irritation from the formulation itself: a tingling sensation (varies greatly between individuals)

Thanks to factors such as pH adjustment of the formulation, patientsoften report that "the irritation from the formulation is milder than with Rejuran.".

Additionally, because the use of anesthesia is recommended when administering it via Water Light Injection, the procedure is generally performed after applying topical cream anesthesia or local anesthesia.

Downtime, Side Effects, and Risks

As a rule, downtime for Vitaran is 2 to 3 days.

  • Swelling and redness: several hours to a few days (varies between individuals)
  • Swelling from Water Light Injection: about 48 hours
  • Needle marks: about 2 to 3 days
  • Bruising: about 1 to 2 weeks

Swelling and redness

Immediately after the procedure, there may be swelling and redness at and around the needle openings.

This usually settles within a few hours to the next day, becoming mild enough to cover with makeup from the following day onward.

Because increased blood circulation from bathing, drinking alcohol, and the like can temporarily intensify redness, please rest and take it easy on the day of your treatment.

Swelling after Water Light Injection (the "embossing" effect)

Immediately after the procedure, the injected areas swell up like insect bites, a condition called "embossing."
ThisThese small bumps are evidence that the formulation is being held within the dermis and are a normal response..
They are absorbed into the skin and flatten out as early as a few hours, though usually within the next day to a few days.
Compared with Rejuran, Vitaran's swelling tends to subside (be absorbed) more quickly,as many patients report.

Bruising

If the needle touches a capillary, pinpoint bruising may occur.
This isa possible risk with all injectable treatments, not just Vitaran..

Even if bruising occurs,it can usually be concealed with concealer or foundation,is generally minor, and disappears within 1 to 2 weeks.

If you would like to know more about the detailed recovery process, please see the following article.

Infection

Although extremely rare, bacteria can enter through the needle openings and cause an infection.

To reduce the risk of infection, please take care not to touch the treated area after the procedure.

Allergy

Because polynucleotides, the main ingredient of Vitaran, are structurally very similar to human DNA,they are very unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. It is a formulation.

However, in very rare cases, allergic reactions (rash, intense itching, unusual sensation of heat, etc.) may occur.
In the unlikely event thatswelling or itching does not subside after several days or worsens, please contact the clinic promptly..

How to care for your skin after Vitaran treatment and precautions

  • Face washing and skincare: You may resume from the day of your treatment, but please do not rub the injection site firmly. Keep the skin clean and avoid harsh skincare products.
  • Alcohol, strenuous exercise, and sauna: Please avoid these on the day of your treatment. Excessive blood circulation may cause more pronounced redness, bruising, and swelling.
  • Makeup: Because the needle openings are still open immediately after the procedure, please avoid makeup on the day of your treatment. You may wear makeup as usual from the following day.
  • Moisturizing and sun protection: Tiny micro-injuries make the skin prone to dryness and more susceptible to UV damage. Please care for your skin even more carefully than usual.

Vitaran and Lizne: reassurance from a shared manufacturer

With Lizne no longer being carried, some of you may feel uneasy about your future treatments—but please rest assured.

Vitaran and Lizne are both manufactured by BR PHARM in Korea under the same strict quality control standards. The fact that they share the same manufacturer is a major source of reassurance when it comes to quality.

  • Equivalent quality standards for raw materials
  • The same level of control over the manufacturing process (MFDS license obtained)
  • Formulation technology know-how is shared

BR PHARM manages the salmon (trout) used as raw material at its own farms in clean areas along the southern coast.

Everything from raw material sourcing to the extraction, purification, and manufacturing of DNA using patented technology is consistently managed in-house.

As a result,This eliminates the risk of contamination by viruses or impurities to the greatest extent possible, enabling the consistent supply of stable, high-quality polynucleotide formulations. The first two are as follows:

Vitaran/Lizne vs. Rejuran: differences in effect and pain

  • Rejuran: known for significant pain during injection
  • Vitaran/Lizne: substantially reduced

What matters isthat less pain does not mean less effect. This is the key point.

Vitaran's polynucleotide concentration is 20 mg/mL—the same as Rejuran Healer (the standard formulation in the Rejuran series).
In other words,Vitaran's theoretical skin-regenerating effect can be expected to be equivalent to that of Rejuran and Lizne..

Rejuran is a pioneer among polynucleotide formulations, well regarded for its effectiveness in improving stubborn fine lines around the eyes and mouth.
However, its high viscosity tended to make injection painful and to cause pronounced swelling during downtime.

On the other hand,Compared with Rejuran, Vitaran is designed to make injection relatively less painful through adjustments to its pH (degree of acidity/alkalinity) and refinements to the formulation's viscosity and osmotic pressure.is being provided.

Points for choosing

  • If you dislike pain, want to keep costs down and continue treatment, or want to treat a large area: Vitaran
  • If you are absolutely committed to the brand and can tolerate the pain: Rejuran

Why Smart Skin Clinic chose "Vitaran"

At Smart Skin Clinic,Our General Director personally scrutinized everything from the ingredients to the manufacturing background, and introduced this "Vitaran" with full confidence..

When the decision was made to discontinue the supply of Lizne, we felt that in order to provide "a product of a quality that would not betray the patients who had trusted Lizne," the reliability of the manufacturer was essential. Ultimately, because Korea's MFDS manufacturing license confirmed that Vitaran is made on the same BR PHARM production line as Lizne, we decided to introduce it.

Also,"Continuity" is the key to skin-regenerating treatment. No matter how good a formulation is, if it is too painful to come back for a second session, it will be difficult to truly experience its benefits. Rather than "receiving one expensive treatment," being able to "visit regularly at a reasonable price" is what matters for long-term improvement in skin quality..

We concluded that Vitaran is a formulation that strikes a good balance of effect, comfort, and cost, making it easy to continue without strain..

How Vitaran is injected

Manual injection by a physician

Not only for improving overall skin quality, but also when you feel that "I'm only bothered by the fine lines under my eyes" or "I only want to treat around my mouth,"it is also possible to perform high-density, concentrated injections in the specific areas of concern. It can even be used on areas with thin skin, such as around the eyes.

Vital Injector

Water Light Injection is a device that injects the formulation like a stamp, using nine ultra-fine needles per shot. Suction pressure causes the ultra-fine needles to penetrate the skin, and the formulation is injected evenly at a pre-set depth.

Through the effects of Vitaran combined with the skin's efforts to heal the tiny needle wounds, increased collagen production and skin regeneration can be expected.

For more about Water Light Injections, please also see this article.

FAQ

Is it exactly the same as Lizne?

The manufacturer (BR PHARM) is the same, and the ingredient specifications are almost identical.
It feels and performs very similarly to Lizne, and we can confidently recommend it as a successor to Lizne.

Is there any effect even after just one session?

Many patients notice a "glow to the skin" and "smoother makeup application" even after a single session, but polynucleotide formulations are treatments that reveal their true value when built up over multiple sessions.
Wrinkles will not dramatically disappear in a single session, so we recommend a course of multiple treatments.

When can I wear makeup after the treatment?

You may wear makeup from the day after your treatment. On the day itself, the needle openings are still open, so please refrain from makeup to help prevent infection.

Can I have it on the same day as other injections?

With some formulations this may be possible. Whether it is done on the same day or a separate day will be advised based on the physician's judgment.

Will my skin return to its previous state if I stop? (Is there a rebound?)

There is no sudden worsening (rebound). However, since aging continues to progress, stopping treatment will simply allow your skin to gradually resume its natural aging process. To help maintain good results, we recommend regular maintenance.

Are there cases where it has no effect?

It is rare to see no change at all, though the degree of results felt varies from person to person. Vitaran alone may be less effective for deep wrinkles and sagging in particular. In such cases, we may suggest combining it with other treatments, such as a Thread Lift.

Vitaran is available at Smart Skin Clinic

For those seeking a new option following the discontinuation of Lizne, Vitaran—with its "same manufacturer" and "same quality"—is the most reassuring product to switch to.

Vitaran will also make an ideal entry-level formulation for those who were hesitant about Rejuran, thinking, "I'm interested in skin regeneration, but I'm afraid of the pain."

To find out whether Vitaran is right for your skin, please feel free to consult us at a free counseling session. Counseling is conducted by a physician.
