What is Cerdiem (Skin Plus)?
Cerdiem (Korean name: CellREDM / brand name in Japan: Skin Plus) is a next-generation skin booster formulation made by Hans Biomed, a Korean medical device and biomaterial manufacturer.
Whereas conventional treatments were based on the idea of "supplementing what is lacking from the outside (such as adding volume with hyaluronic acid),"Cerdiem takes the approach of "enhancing the skin's inherent regenerative power itself."It takes this approach.

The principle of the "ECM skin booster"
Cerdiem falls into the category known as "ECM skin boosters."ECM stands for "extracellular matrix." Composed of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and more, it is like the "framework" that fills and supports the space between the cells of our skin.
To use an analogy, if the skin cells are the "residents," the ECM is the "structure of the building." When the structure is solid, the house lasts a long time and the skin cells living there stay comfortable. Conversely, if the structure deteriorates, there is a limit to what can be achieved no matter how much the interior is refurbished.Cerdiem is a treatment aimed at "repairing and strengthening" that structure.

The improvement in skin structure brought about by the main ingredient, "ultrafine-particle human-derived ECM (hADM)"
The greatest feature of Cerdiem is that its main ingredient is human-derived ECM (hADM: human-derived acellular dermal matrix).
hADM is made by taking human skin donated by a donor, removing the cellular components that trigger an immune response, and highly purifying only the ECM components such as collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and fibronectin.
By processing this ingredient into ultrafine 75 µm particles and injecting them into the dermal layer, the skin's own fibroblasts are activated and the production of collagen and elastin is encouraged. The greatest feature of Cerdiem is this mechanism in which the skin "produces its own," rather than supplementing from the outside.
Safety is also important with human-derived formulations. Hans BiomedManufactures hADM at facilities certified by the FDA and the AATB (American Association of Tissue Banks)so it does.
5th-generation skin booster
In Korean aesthetic medicine, following Rejuran and Juvelook,it is sometimes also called a "5th-generation skin booster."However, this is not an officially or academically defined classification; it is a term used for advertising and marketing purposes.
Incidentally, another skin booster said to be of the same 5th generation is "Re2O (Rituo)."
The following is one example of a convenient classification used in the Korean aesthetic medicine market, and is not an academically unified generational classification.
Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid type (HA formulations used in Water Light Injection)
Main approach
Immediate water retention and hydration
Rejuran, Lizne, etc.
Main approach
PN (polynucleotide) formulations supporting repair and regeneration
Juvelook, Tolen, etc.
Main approach
Stimulation of collagen neogenesis by PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid)
Exosome / secretome type, etc.
Main approach
Regeneration support using extracellular vesicles and related bioactive factors
Rituo, Celldiem, JuvacellhADM / ECM type
Main approach
An approach oriented toward reconstructing the skin's structure using ECM components derived from hADM (human acellular dermis)
Three benefits you may expect from Cerdiem
- Improved firmness and elasticity
- Improvement of dry and sensitive skin
- Improvement of pores, texture, and dullness
(1) Restoration of firmness and elasticity (the 5th-generation ECM approach)
The greatest feature of Cerdiem is that, unlike conventional skin boosters that "stimulate your own cells to produce collagen," it directly replenishes the "extracellular matrix (ECM) itself," which serves as the scaffold for collagen and elastin, functioning as a scaffold to support the structure.
The micronized hADM component spreads evenly within the dermis and supports the structure as an immediate scaffold.Furthermore, your own "fibroblasts" enter this robust scaffold and are activated, generating and remodeling new collagen and elastin. As a result, rather than unnatural puffiness, genuine firmness and elasticity that seem to well up from deep within the skin are revived.
A 2017 study (Micronized Cross-Linked Human Acellular Dermal Matrices) confirmed that micronized hADM functions as a scaffold for collagen synthesis. Because collagen gradually increases after the treatment, the result also looks natural.
(2) Improvement of dry and sensitive skin (strengthening the barrier function from the dermis)
When it comes to the barrier function that limits moisture evaporation within the skin, the stratum corneum, the outermost layer, plays the leading role. However, the epidermis, including the stratum corneum, depends heavily on the supply of moisture and nutrients from the "dermis," its foundation.
When Cerdiem rebuilds the ECM of the dermis, the moisture-retaining capacity of the dermal layer improves. As that hydration and its signals are firmly sent to the epidermis, cell turnover is encouraged.
As a result, strong support from within helps raise the barrier function of the epidermis itself, which may improve sensitive skin that easily reddens at the slightest irritation, chronic dryness, and the fine lines that accompany them.
It should also be noted that clinical studies have reported that hADM injection showed excellent improvements in the parameters of skin density, elasticity, moisture retention, and barrier function.
(3) Improvement of pores, texture, and dullness
Because the particles of the Cerdiem formulation are very fine, it can be distributed evenly within the dermis.
The injected hADM and the newly generated autologous tissue increase the thickness and density of the entire dermal layer. The foundation of the skin is then pushed up from within, tightening pores that had widened as they gave in to gravity due to sagging in the dermis..
Also,As the surface irregularities of the skin flatten out, the reflection of light becomes uniform, transforming the skin into a refined texture with clarity and a luminous quality..
When does Cerdiem take effect?
| Immediately after treatment to several days | Physical plumping and a feeling of hydration from the formulation |
| 3 to 5 days later | Improved blood circulation and a stabilized skin barrier |
| 1 to 2 weeks later | Improvement of pores, texture, and fine lines, and the start of collagen regeneration |
| 3 to 4 weeks later | Improvement of dullness and firmness |
| 1 to 2 months later | Peak effect |
Because Cerdiem works by encouraging the production of your own collagen rather than being "immediate" like a hyaluronic acid injection, its effects are felt gradually.
A characteristic feature is that change appears little by little, with patients noticing about 2 to 4 weeks after the treatment that "my skin has gradually been in better condition" or "before I realized it, my fine lines had decreased."
A guide to the duration and recommended number of Cerdiem sessions
- Duration: approximately 6 to 12 months per treatment
- Recommended number of sessions: 3 times, every 3 to 4 weeks
- Maintenance: once every 3 to 6 months
A continuous approach makes it easier for the skin's foundation to stabilize. To maintain results and improve skin quality, multiple sessions are recommended rather than "one and done."
Please note that results vary depending on individual differences and skin condition.
Cerdiem is recommended for the following people
- Those bothered by a lack of firmness and elasticity or by fine lines
- Those who want fundamental care for chronically dry or sensitive skin
- Those bothered by enlarged pores or uneven texture
- Those who want to improve dullness and aim for clear, luminous skin
- Those who feel that conventional hyaluronic acid injections are not enough
- Those who could not tolerate the pain of previous skin boosters (such as Rejuran)
- Those who want to improve their skin quality while keeping downtime to a minimum
- Those who want to pursue a natural finish
About the injection volume, injection sites, and injection method of Cerdiem
- Guide to injection volume: around 4 to 7 cc (adjusted according to the whole face, skin condition, and treatment area)
- Areas that can be injected: the whole face / under the eyes / nasolabial folds / temples / neck / around the mouth
Because Cerdiem is processed into ultrafine particles,it can be used not only on the whole face but also on areas with thin skin, such as around the eyes.so it does.
How much your skin needs will be proposed by the doctor after examining you at your consultation.
Which layer is it injected into?

Injectable formulations differ in both ingredients and purpose from one product to the next. That is why choosing the formulation best suited to each one"layer"and"amount"is very important for drawing out the effect correctly.
In the case of Cerdiem, the main injection layer is "the full thickness of the dermis, from the superficial to the deep layers."
The skin is structured in layers, starting from the surface: the "epidermis," the "dermis" (comprising the superficial, middle, and deep layers), the "subcutaneous fat layer," and the "muscle layer," each of which plays a distinct role. From the superficial to the deep dermis is the region responsible for the skin's various functions, from the texture and firmness of the skin's surface to structural support deep within.
The full thickness of the dermis is the range where Cerdiem's ingredients and intended purpose can be delivered most effectively, and this is the medical rationale behind our clinic injecting this formulation into this specific range.
The differences between Cerdiem and other skin boosters
At our clinic we offer carefully selected formulations, and we have summarized the differences between them below.
| Celldiem | Lituo | Rejuran | Hyaluronic acid | |
| Main ingredient | hADM (ultrafine particles) | hADM (regular particles) | PN/PDRN | Hyaluronic acid |
| Expected benefits | Support for luminosity, texture, and barrier function | Plump firmness from within | Cell regeneration and improvement of inflammation | Immediate volume boost |
| Pain | Minimal | Slightly less | Somewhat strong | Moderate, depending on the area |
| How the effect appears | Gradual | Gradual | Gradual | Fast-acting |
Cerdiem vs. Rituo (Re2O / BNAJU): differences in particle size and finish
- Who Cerdiem is recommended for: Bothered by fine lines around the eyes, wanting luminous, glowing skin, wanting to keep bumpiness and downtime to a minimum
- Who Rituo is recommended for: wanting to improve firmness, elasticity, and dryness, and to plump up the texture from within
Both Cerdiem and Rituo are ECM skin boosters with hADM as the main ingredient, butthe difference lies in the "fineness of the particles," the way they are distributed, and the design of the approach to the dermis. This is where the difference lies.
Because Cerdiem's hADM consists of ultrafine 75 µm particles, it can be delivered more uniformly. This leads to a superior approach to a "luminous" and "glowing" quality. The finer particles also make unevenness less noticeable, making the formulation easier to use around the eyes as well.
Rituo, on the other hand, has a particle size of about 100 µm, larger than Cerdiem. It is designed with a focus on preserving the structure of the ECM components, emphasizing the rebuilding of the dermal environment. As a result, it contributes to improved firmness, elasticity, and moisture retention, leading to a plump texture from within.
Rather than which is better, it is important to choose the appropriate formulation according to your goal and current skin condition.

Cerdiem vs. Rejuran: key points on pain and how to use each
- Who Rejuran is recommended for: those who have a certain amount of skin thickness and want to repair fine lines and acne scars. Those who are tolerant of pain.
- Who Cerdiem is recommended for: those whose skin has become sparse and thin with age, with noticeable crepiness and sagging pores. Those who are not good with pain.
Rejuran (a PN formulation), synonymous with skin-nurturing injections, excels at "cell regeneration at the DNA level."
However,When the ECM of the dermis is depleted due to aging and the skin has become sparse, "stimulating" the cells will not produce collagen well because there is no "scaffold" for them to work on..
This is where the "physical rebuilding of the ECM" with Cerdiem is effective. Because it directly replenishes the lost scaffold itself, functioning as a scaffold and supporting the structure, it is ideal for the fundamental treatment of skin whose foundation has become so thin that Rejuran is less effective.
Furthermore, because the ingredient is ultrafine, another major advantage is that it can significantly reduce the pain during injection compared with Rejuran.
Cerdiem vs. hyaluronic acid: from "supplementing" to "nurturing"
Hyaluronic acid injections are good at adding volume to specific areas, such as the nasolabial folds or the height of the nose, and at filling in deep wrinkles.Their effect is immediate and visually easy to appreciate, but they also have the aspect of "returning to the original state once the hyaluronic acid is absorbed."
Cerdiem, on the other hand, is not a localized volume boost; it raises the skin density of the whole face to bring out natural beauty. In other words, it is a treatment that "nurtures" the skin.

Treatments that are more effective when combined with Cerdiem
By conditioning the skin's foundation with Cerdiem, the skin's response to subsequent treatments is enhanced.
At our clinic, we can also suggest combinations with other treatments depending on your concerns and skin condition. Here are some especially recommended combinations.
XERF (radiofrequency) | For tightening sagging and the facial contour
XERF is a treatment for sagging that delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy from the dermis to the subcutaneous fat layer to encourage collagen production. Having XERF while the ECM foundation is reinforced with Cerdiem may offer a synergistic effect on collagen production.
For those bothered by sagging along the facial contour, or by nasolabial folds and marionette lines, this combination is especially recommended.
Photofacial (IPL) | For improving spots, dullness, and redness
Photofacial is a treatment that emits light called IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to address spots, dullness, and redness. By enhancing the skin's density and barrier function with Cerdiem and then having a Photofacial, you may expect more uniform penetration of the light and improved skin recovery.
For those who prioritize clarity and tone enhancement, this is a well-suited combination.
Pain is reduced by ultrafine-particle technology
Because Cerdiem's ingredient is processed into extremely fine particles, there is less needle resistance during injection, so it is designed to make pain easy to keep down.
In addition, using anesthetic cream and cooling further reduces discomfort during the treatment.
A characteristic feature is that many people feel "less pain" not only compared with Rejuran but also compared with Re2O.
The duration and symptoms of downtime
After a Cerdiem treatment, the following symptoms may appear.
All of these are common reactions and in most cases settle within a few days.
- Redness and swelling: from the same day to a few days
- A sense of unevenness: from a few days to about a week
- Bruising: about 1 to 2 weeks
Because this is a treatment involving needle insertion, immediately afterward there will be overall redness, mild swelling, and a warm flush, but this usually settles within a few hours to the next day.
In addition, because the agent is injected finely into the shallow layers of the skin, numerous small bumps (wheals) resembling mosquito bites appear right after the treatment. It varies from person to person, but please rest assured that they are usually absorbed by the skin within 24 hours to a few days and return to a flat surface.
In areas with thin skin, such as around the eyes, internal bruising (bluish or yellowish marks) may rarely appear. It can be concealed with makeup, but it may take about 1 to 2 weeks to disappear completely.
In all cases, the way symptoms appear varies from person to person.
How to Care for Yourself After Treatment
- Makeup and face washing: To prevent infection through the needle channels, please refrain for 12 hours after the treatment. From the next day, you may apply makeup and wash your face as usual.
- Bathing, exercise, sauna, and alcohol: Increased blood flow can cause redness, swelling, and prolonged internal bruising. Please refrain from vigorous exercise, prolonged bathing, sauna, and excessive alcohol on the day of treatment.
- UV protection: The skin is prone to damage. Please use sunscreen thoroughly.
- Massaging the injection area: Please avoid rubbing firmly for one week after the treatment.
The risk of allergy and side effects
In rare cases, the following risks may occur.
- Prolonged inflammation and swelling at the injection site
- Formation of lumps (nodules)
- Allergic reaction
Cerdiem's main ingredient, hADM, has had the cellular components that trigger immune reactions removed through a rigorous purification process. Among human-derived ingredients, it is designed to be especially biocompatible, sothe risk of allergy or rejection is low.It is considered to be
However, no treatment carries zero risk. Please be sure to inform us of your medical and allergy history during your pre-treatment consultation.
In general, downtime symptoms diminish over time. If you notice pain, itching, or increased redness, there may be an infection or allergic reaction. As treatment may be needed, please contact the clinic promptly.

FAQ
- Does Cerdiem cause pain?
-
An anesthetic cream is applied beforehand and an ultrafine needle is used, so there is a slight prickling pain, but it is easily tolerable. The pain is mild compared with conventional formulations such as Rejuran.
- Can I receive treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?
-
We do not perform this treatment on those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. As there is insufficient safety data, please consult us after you have finished breastfeeding.
- Can I donate blood after a Cerdiem treatment?
-
We are sorry, but you will not be able to donate blood after the treatment.
Cerdiem is a rigorously processed, safe formulation, but because it uses human-derived tissue (hADM), blood donation is currently restricted under the regulations of the Japanese Red Cross Society. - Which should I choose, Cerdiem or Rituo?
-
Cerdiem tends to suit those concerned about "luminosity, texture, and barrier function," while Rituo tends to suit those who prioritize "plump firmness from within." For details, please discuss it at your consultation.
- Can Cerdiem be combined with other treatments?
-
Yes, it can. It may deliver even greater synergy. Please consult your doctor about combinations and timing.
- Can I apply makeup and wash my face immediately after a Cerdiem treatment?
-
We ask you to refrain for 12 hours after the treatment. From the next day, you may resume as usual.
- How many sessions should I have before seeing results?
-
How readily results are felt varies from person to person, but having about three sessions at a pace of once every three to four weeks makes changes easier to notice. After that, once every 3 to 6 months is a good guide for maintenance.
