Rejuran is an injection treatment for various skin problems. In this article, the cosmetic dermatology clinic will discuss the downtime of Rejuran, its duration and symptoms, how to spend the downtime, and how to avoid suffering from downtime.
Effects of Rejuran
Rejuran is an injectable with polynucleotides (PN) derived from salmon as its active ingredient. Polynucleotides are portions of DNA.
Subcutaneous injection of the preparation is expected to stimulate fibroblasts in the dermis layer to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to restore firmness and elasticity, increase vascular endothelial growth factor for wound healing, and decrease inflammatory cytokines for anti-inflammatory effects.
Recommended for those suffering from all signs of aging, including lack of firmness, dullness, fine lines, wrinkles, craters, and dark circles under the eyes. It can be used not only on the face, but also on the neck, décolleté, and back of hands.
Downtime duration and symptoms of Rejuran
The downtime period for Rejuran is a few days. Symptoms include mild pain, swelling, and internal bleeding.
These symptoms are normal reactions after injection treatment. The appearance of downtime symptoms varies from person to person and depends on the treatment method and site of treatment.

The fact that Rejuran rarely causes serious side effects is described in many papers, including the following study in which "20 Caucasian women aged 40-65 years were injected with a polynucleotide-containing preparation (≒Rejuran) into their laugh lines.

Progress of downtime for Rejuran
The following is a progression of downtime for Rejuran.

A raised area may appear at the injection site, but it will settle down within a few hours to a day. If internal bleeding occurs, it will be dark purple at first.
Facial cleansing and showering are allowed on the same day.

Pain and swelling will gradually subside and become barely noticeable. Makeup can be applied after 24 hours.
3 days later
Downtime is almost over. Internal bleeding gradually fades to yellow.
1 to 2 weeks later
Internal bleeding will have gradually disappeared by this time.
Risks of Rejuran
Rejuran is a formulation with relatively few side effects and risks, but there is a risk of allergy and infection.
Rejuran uses ingredients extracted from salmon DNA. If you are allergic to fish, you may not be able to undergo the procedure because of the possibility of allergic reactions.
Swelling and pain should subside within a few days, but if they gradually intensify, you may have an infection and should consult a clinic.
There is no difference in downtime between different types of Rejuran.
There are four types of Rejuran formulations for different purposes. Rejuran (Healer)" for powerful skin texture improvement, "Rejuran i" for the eye area, "Rejuran s" for pinpoint use on scars, and "Rejuran HB" with anesthesia to reduce pain.
There is no difference in the duration and symptoms of downtime for any of these products. However, Rejuran (Healer) is more painful during injection than the other three preparations, and internal bleeding is more likely to occur if the patient strains.
Note that some clinics may combine Rejelan with other formulations and treat it as an original treatment. In some cases, downtime and precautions may increase with the combined formulation, so you will need to check separately.
How to spend downtime with Rejuran

Be careful not to touch the affected area after surgery more than necessary.
Because Rejuran is an injection treatment, it points to a needle. If bacteria enter through the needle hole, it can cause infection and slow wound healing.
Swelling and pain are relieved by cooling
The postoperative pain of Rejuran is not so strong as to be unbearable. However, the pain felt varies from person to person.
If swelling and pain are painful, intermittent cold can reduce pain. Do not apply ice directly or for long periods of time, as this may cause frostbite.
Prevent skin problems by moisturizing and thoroughly protecting against ultraviolet rays.
Although a Rejuran wound is only a needle hole in appearance, the needle passes under the skin, so the wound needs to be repaired, and the barrier function that protected the skin is reduced.
When the barrier function is reduced, moisture inside the skin evaporates more easily, making it more susceptible to external damage such as ultraviolet rays.
Moisturizing and UV protection are daily habits to keep in mind, but during the downtime period, you should pay even more attention to them. Moisturize with heavier cream than usual, wear a parasol or a mask that can block ultraviolet rays. Use of harsh skin care and makeup products should also be avoided during this period.
Observe life precautions
During the downtime of Rejuran, the skin is in a delicate state.
There are no major restrictions on daily activities; however, avoid strenuous exercise, prolonged bathing, and heavy drinking that may stimulate blood flow.
Make sure to consume a nutritionally balanced diet and get enough sleep to promote skin regeneration.
Internal bleeding can be covered with makeup.
In most cases, internal bleeding can be concealed with makeup such as foundation or concealer.
You may be surprised by the dark purple color at first, but rest assured that it will gradually fade and disappear over a period of 10 to 14 days.
