What is Pluryal Densify?
Pluryal Densify Water Light Injection is a treatment that uses a stamp-type injector—the "Water Light Injection"—to deliver a skin-conditioning formulation called "Pluryal Densify" into the dermis, the deep layer of the skin.
The "Pluryal" series, which includes Pluryal Densify, consists of formulations developed by MD Skin Solutions of Luxembourg and is used in many countries, primarily across Europe.
Water Light Injection can quickly deliver the solution across the entire face at a uniform depth and volume.
At our clinic, we use it widely from the entire face through to the neck, and it is popular among women in their 30s to 60s who seek natural-looking rejuvenation.
The main ingredient of Pluryal Densify is "salmon-derived polynucleotides."
The core ingredient of Pluryal Densify is polynucleotide (PN).
PN is a compound extracted and purified from salmon DNA, which has a structure similar to human DNA. As a result, it is less likely to trigger a reaction as a foreign substance. It is also known as an ingredient in Rejuran.
The three active ingredients in Pluryal Densify and how they work
Pluryal Densify contains the following ingredients in a proprietary blend.
- Polynucleotide 10 mg/ml
- Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid 10 mg/ml
- Mannitol 40 mg/ml
By combining three ingredients with distinct properties, the formula is designed to simultaneously target “regeneration,” “hydration,” and “long-lasting effects” .
(1) Polynucleotide: stimulates fibroblasts to regenerate the skin's foundation
The key player here is polynucleotide. With age, the fibroblasts deep in the skin gradually lose their vitality, collagen production declines, and, conversely, its breakdown accelerates. This surfaces as loss of firmness, fine lines, and sagging.
It is believed that polynucleotides act on these weakened fibroblasts to stimulate their activation and support the production of components that form the skin’s foundation, such as collagen and elastin.
In a clinical study of 30 Asian participants (average age 40.2), intradermal injection of a naturally derived polynucleotide formulation improved measures such as skin texture, evenness of tone, firmness, and radiance, with effects lasting up to 6 months. It is reported that PN promotes the production of new collagen and extracellular matrix, helping to repair aging skin.
Lim, T. S., Liew, S., Tee, X. J., Chong, I., Lo, F. J., Ho, M. J., Ong, K. T., & Cavallini, M. (2024). Polynucleotides HPT for Asian skin regeneration and rejuvenation. Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, 17, 417-431. doi:10.2147/CCID.S437942
(2) Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid: restores moisture and firmness with its high water-retaining capacity
The second ingredient is non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
Cross-linked hyaluronic acid refers to a state in which the molecules are bonded together, while non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid refers to a state in which the molecules are spread out separately.
Cross-linked hyaluronic acid causes molecules to cluster together, “firming the skin and adding volume,” whereas non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid allows molecules to diffuse evenly, providing moisture and creating a foundation for PN to function.
With hyaluronic acid's high water-retaining capacity, it locks in moisture, prevents dryness, and helps support the skin's texture and firmness.
③Mannitol: extends the duration of the effect through its antioxidant action
The third ingredient, mannitol, is a type of natural sugar alcohol widely found in plants and seaweed in nature.
Mannitol has powerful antioxidant properties (it helps eliminate free radicals).
Injected hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by free radicals in the body. However, mannitol helps inhibit the breakdown of hyaluronic acid by neutralizing these free radicals.
Benefits you can expect from Pluryal Densify
- Improved hydration and firmness
- Improvement of fine lines and crepey skin
- Improvement of enlarged pores, striated pores, and acne scars
- Improvement of redness, dullness, uneven tone, and pigmentation
① Improvement in skin hydration and firmness
Through PN's activation of fibroblasts and the moisture-retaining effect of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, you may expect improved skin hydration, firmness from within, and enhanced radiance. You may notice hydration right away, and feel the change as your skin regenerates over the course of several weeks.
②Improving Fine Lines and Crepey Skin
As hyaluronic acid draws in moisture and the skin's foundation is conditioned, you may expect improvement in fine crepey lines and shallow fine lines caused by dryness. The eye area is delicate and prone to showing signs of aging. This treatment may help improve the "skin quality itself"—including hydration and texture—around the eyes.
In a study of 27 participants comparing a PN formulation and a non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid formulation injected into the left and right eye areas respectively, the PN formulation was reported to show higher improvement rates for skin texture roughness and pore volume than the hyaluronic acid formulation. This is useful data for those who wish to improve the "skin quality itself" around the eyes.
Lee, Y. J., Kim, H. T., Lee, Y. J., Paik, S. H., Moon, Y. S., Lee, W. J., Chang, S. E., Lee, M. W., Choi, J. H., Jung, J. M., & Won, C. H. (2022). Comparison of the effects of polynucleotide and hyaluronic acid fillers on periocular rejuvenation: A randomized, double-blind, split-face trial. Journal of Dermatological Treatment, 33(1), 254-260. doi:10.1080/09546634.2020.1748857
③Improving Enlarged Pores, Striated Pores, and Acne Scars
Uneven skin texture, such as enlarged pores and acne scars, is related to a lack of collagen and disrupted skin turnover.
Since PN promotes skin repair and hyaluronic acid helps balance the skin’s environment, you can expect results that make “strip-like pores”—which have become elongated due to sagging—as well as enlarged pores and acne scars less noticeable.
As skin texture becomes smoother and more even, makeup goes on better, too.
④Improvement of Redness, Dullness, Uneven Skin Tone, and Hyperpigmentation
Redness and dullness are caused by inflammation. Mannitol’s antioxidant properties help eliminate free radicals and soothe inflammation.
In addition, PN has been reported to support tissue repair and regeneration through mechanisms such as fibroblast activation, stimulation of collagen synthesis, angiogenesis, and anti-inflammatory action, and is thought to also help improve skin redness and dullness.
When do the effects start? A guide to the time until you notice results and how long they last
- From the same day: feel the hydration
- 2-4 weeks after the procedure: gradually feel the firmness
- Duration: approximately 6-9 months
Plural Densify is not a treatment that produces dramatic results after just one use . This is not a drawback; rather, it is a characteristic unique to this type of formulation, which is designed to “nurture” the skin.
Changes visible to the naked eye generally appear gradually over the course of several weeks after treatment, and multiple sessions are required to build a solid foundation.
Feeling that "it didn't work even after one session" is, in most cases, due to this "gap in expectations." As explained later, first completing the recommended number of sessions to build a foundation greatly influences satisfaction.
Number of sessions and treatment intervals・Maintenance frequency
- Number of sessions and intervals: at least 3 sessions per course at 3-4 week intervals
- Maintenance: after one course, roughly once every six months to a year
For Plural Densify, a typical course consists of about three sessions at intervals of 3 to 4 weeks . This is because a certain number of sessions is necessary to build a foundation for “nurturing the skin.”
This figure of "three sessions" is supported by clinical evidence, as shown below.
In a clinical evaluation using three intradermal injections of the high-purity PN formulation, visible improvement was seen in 100% of patients treated on the face; moderate to significant improvement was reported in over 93% for the neck and over 88% for the décolleté; and no serious adverse events occurred.
Eliana, F., Cavallini, M., et al. (2026). A real-life assessment of injectable polynucleotides high purification technology in aesthetic medicine for skin rejuvenation. Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 25(1), e70532. doi:10.1111/jocd.70532
After building a solid foundation for your skin with three treatments, it is ideal to undergo maintenance about once every six months to a year to maintain the results .
Because the skin's regenerative power gradually declines again with age once treatments stop, regular care makes a difference to the condition of your skin in the future.
The difference between Pluryal Densify and other injectable formulations
| Product name | Pluryal Densify | Rejuran (Healer) | Sunekos |
| Main ingredient | Polynucleotide + Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid + Mannitol | Polynucleotide | non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid + Amino acids |
| The most distinctive feature | Regenerative power, deep hydration, redness relief | Powerful tissue regeneration | Dark circle reduction, natural firmness |
| Pain | Moderate | Strong | Relatively mild |
| Concerns it excels at | Dryness, redness, and firmness and enlarged pores over a wide area | Stubborn wrinkles, acne scars | Blue dark circles, wrinkles around the eyes |
Differences from Rejuran
Both Rejuran and Plural Densify are PN-based skin-nourishing formulations derived from salmon. They share a common underlying philosophy and are similar in that they both “boost the skin’s regenerative power.”
- Rejuran (Healer) is recommended: ideal for those who want a focus on tissue regeneration and porcelain-smooth skin
- Pluryal Densify is recommended: for those concerned not only with firmness and radiance, but also with dryness and dullness
Rejuran Healer contains a high concentration of polynucleotides and is a formulation that excels at improving skin quality.
Pluryal Densify combines PN with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and mannitol, designed to balance "regeneration + hydration + longevity" in a single formulation. Also, because Pluryal Densify contains non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, many people report that the sensation during injection feels relatively mild (though the perception of pain varies from person to person).
Differences from Sunekos
Sunekos is a formulation that combines low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid and amino acids, and excels at conditioning the shallow layers.
- Sunekos is recommended: for those who want to care for the eye area—such as blue dark circles, dry fine lines, and crepey lines
- Pluryal Densify is recommended: for those with complex concerns or concerns across the whole face
Differences within the "Pluryal" series
In addition to Pluryal Densify, the "Pluryal" series includes other formulations designed for different purposes.
- Pluryal Densify (PLURYAL DENSIFY): Addresses "skin quality" concerns such as overall firmness, pores, redness, and dullness
- Plural Silk (PLURYAL SILK): Designed for thin, delicate skin areas such as around the eyes and mouth
- BioSculpture (PLURYAL BIOSCULPTURE): Promotes three-dimensional rejuvenation, including facial contours and deep wrinkles
- Plural Hair Density (PLURYAL HAIR DENSITY): Specializes in hair growth
For more on the "Pluryal" series, please also see the article below.
Recommended combination treatments
Plural Densify is a skin-nourishing injection treatment designed to strengthen the skin’s foundation. As such, it can produce synergistic effects when combined with other injection treatments.
For example, we recommend combinations such as the following.
- Inject Pluryal Densify across the whole face to raise the foundation's firmness and hydration.
- On the same day, add Silk or Sunekos to the eye area only for intensive care of blue dark circles and crepey lines.
- If hollow cheeks or contour volume is a concern, add Profhilo or similar as a spot treatment at a later date.
With this flow, you can condition "skin quality → fine detail → dimension" in stages, maximizing the result while minimizing downtime.
How many cc or how many vials are needed? A guide by area
The amount of Pluryal Densify needed varies depending on your skin condition and preferences.
If you're unsure "how much my skin needs," please use the following as a guide.
[Pattern 1] Lighter treatment is fine for the forehead and the area below the nose ⇒ 3cc
[Pattern 2] The area below the nose can be a little lighter, but I want thorough treatment above the nose ⇒ 4cc
[Pattern 3] I want to treat the whole face thoroughly, including the area below the nose ⇒ 6cc
If you're unsure, our doctor will confirm your wishes on the day and propose the optimal volume (please rest assured that we never engage in unnecessary upselling).
About pain during the procedure and anesthesia
During the Plural Densify procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied in advance , followed by a local anesthetic to minimize pain, so discomfort is kept to a minimum .
*The perception of pain varies from person to person
About downtime and side effects
The symptoms that may appear during downtime and their estimated duration are as follows.
- Redness and mild swelling: several hours to about 24 hours
- Bruising: approximately 1-2 weeks
Immediately after injection, needle marks, temporary redness, and slight mosquito-bite-like swelling may appear here and there. In most cases, these settle within a few hours to 24 hours.
If bruising occurs, it is mild enough to cover with makeup such as concealer and gradually fades within about 1 to 2 weeks. Makeup is possible from the next day.
In any case, it is generally considered that this rarely causes significant disruption to daily life.
*Symptoms vary from person to person.
Temporary swelling is not a failure; it settles in over time.
Some people become anxious after seeing comments such as "it becomes lumpy" or "lumps form," but Pluryal Densify is a formulation designed to blend easily into the skin. Temporary swelling (wheals) may appear immediately after injection, but in most cases it settles over time.
Those who cannot undergo the procedure / those requiring caution
Although Pluryal Densify is designed to be gentle, some people should exercise caution.
If any of the following apply to you, please refrain from receiving treatment.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Those with an infection or inflammation at the injection site
- Those with a severe autoimmune disease
- Those with a keloid-prone constitution
- Those with a bleeding tendency
- Those with an infection or strong inflammation at the treatment site
If you are taking anticoagulants, bruising or redness may be prolonged, so please be sure to inform your doctor in advance.
If you have recently had laser treatment or a peel, your skin will be sensitive, so for your safety please allow ample recovery time.
Risk of side effects and our clinic's safety measures
Pluryal Densify uses PN derived from salmon DNA, and the incidence of allergy is considered extremely low.
However, depending on your physical condition or current medication regimen, swelling may persist or tenderness may develop; therefore, our clinic conducts a detailed review of your medical history and current medications before treatment. If you experience any abnormalities within 48 hours after treatment, our doctors or staff will assist you via LINE or phone.
Post-treatment care (face washing, makeup, bathing, exercise, and alcohol on the day of treatment)
After your treatment, please keep the following points in mind so your skin can heal smoothly.
- Face washing and skincare: possible from the same day. Wash gently with lukewarm water without rubbing.
- Makeup: possible from the next day
- Bathing, strenuous exercise, and alcohol: because these promote blood circulation and can prolong swelling or bruising, please refrain from them for 24 hours.
- Sunscreen / UV protection: take thorough UV precautions, such as applying sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.
- Keeping a healthy lifestyle: aim for adequate sleep and a well-balanced diet.
The Pluryal Densify treatment process
You can easily book from your smartphone.
A smart, effortless check-in: just give your name and our clinic IT system completes reception right away.
During counseling, please feel free to share any concerns. Rest assured, there is no pushy sales.
After cleansing, to minimize pain we apply a topical anesthetic cream over a wide area and let it penetrate for about 20 minutes.
We perform the injection (Water Light Injection) while talking with you along the way. Because the anesthetic has taken effect, the pain is at a tolerable level. The procedure itself takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the whole face.
We will provide detailed instructions on how to care for the treated area and what to keep in mind in your daily life.
In addition, with a focus on prevention and maintenance, we recommend appropriate home care products—such as oral medications and skincare products—that can help alleviate your concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- When can I expect to feel the effects of Pluryal Densify?
-
Results vary from person to person, but visible changes generally appear gradually over the course of several weeks. Duration also varies from person to person, and regular maintenance is ideal for sustaining the effects.
- How many sessions are best?
-
As a guide, 3 sessions at 3-4 week intervals are recommended. There is clinical data demonstrating the effectiveness of a three-session course, and this number is considered ideal for laying the foundation.
- Does it hurt? Is anesthesia available?
-
We apply a topical anesthetic beforehand, so pain is kept to a minimum. Generally, the pain is not unbearable.
- How long does the downtime last?
-
Redness and mild swelling subside within a few hours to about a day. In rare cases, bruising may occur, but it usually settles within a few days to two weeks.
- I'm worried about lumps, bumps, and mistakes.
-
This formulation blends easily with the skin, and any temporary swelling usually settles over time.
- When can I wear makeup or exercise after the treatment?
-
Makeup is recommended from the next day. You may wash your face gently with lukewarm water from the same day, and please moisturize thoroughly and protect against UV rays. It is best to avoid bathing, strenuous exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours, as these increase blood flow and may prolong swelling or bruising.
- Can Pluryal Densify be combined with other injections?
-
Yes, it is possible. Combining treatments can sometimes produce synergistic effects. For example, a popular combination is treating the whole face with Pluryal Densify, providing targeted care around the eyes with Sunekos or Silk, and supplementing the jawline with treatments such as Profhilo. Your doctor will recommend the optimal sequence and timing based on your treatment goals.
- Is it safe?
-
Pluryal Densify holds European CE certification, and its main ingredient, PN, is a regenerative-medicine material with extremely few reported allergic reactions. However, for safety, please inform us in advance if you have any allergies or pre-existing medical conditions.
- What's the difference between Pluryal Densify and Rejuran? Which one is better?
-
Both are PN-based skin-conditioning formulations derived from salmon. Pluryal Densify combines PN with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and mannitol, designed to deliver "regeneration + hydration + longevity" in a single formulation, while Rejuran specializes in improving wrinkles and acne scars through powerful tissue regeneration. Which is chosen depends on your skin condition and goals.
